A simple walk through the narrow streets (called “carruggi”) of Castelbianco is enough to start appreciating the landscape and the views of this delightful part of Liguria.
After that, you can have a tour around the places of cultural interest in Castelbianco.
You will find some churches and chapels. The church of Nostra Signora Assunta dates back to the XIV-XVII centuries and it is situated in the hamlet called Veravo. It is a baroque building and it is interesting because there is an Eighteen century organ inside that is very weel preserved. In Vessallo you can visit probably the most important church in Castelbianco, the church of Annunziata. Built in baroque stile, its characteristic is the double bell tower. Always in Vessallo there is the church of San Sebastiano and the chapel of San Lorenzo, while in Oresine the chapel of San Bernardo is worth a visit.
During the sightseeing, you will also admire the remains of the old castle which gives name to the village and nowadays it consists of two sections of the ancient surrounding walls.
For those who want to visit our beautiful Riviera, Castelbianco is not far from the beach of Albenga and Alassio, where you can have wonderful walks by the sea. Albenga and its medieval centre is really charming and evocative. Alassio is known for its beautiful old town centre, in the typical style of our region and always fresh, even in summertime. In Alassio you will find an interesting ex-Anglican church (1882), which today is a cultural centre, and an English library that boasts a property of about 12000 volumes.
Back to the hinterland, in Nasino, there is the church of San Giovanni Battista, restored in 2006.
And to have a taste of all the different flavours of our food-and-wine tradition, you can look for the various growers of the “Strada del Vino e dell’Olio” and from the Arroscia Valley and you will discover a new bouquet of delicious and healthy flavours from Liguria.
